Best Hong Kong Hotels
(Including Cheap Ones!)

With 177 Hong Kong hotels available, I was facing a dilemma. There seemed to be so many good places to choose from.

That was a couple of years ago (now there are 190 hotels in the city).

I knew, however, that the wrong choice in a place to stay could ruin the experience.

So, having a background in research related fields and being one that loves that side of doing business (not many do, I'm told :) ), I did - surprisingly - a lot of research on HK hotels before coming here.

I ended up staying at an apartment hotel in the district of Aberdeen in Hong Kong, absolutely loved the city, and the accommodation was perfect for that occasion.

You might not enjoy doing all the legwork...err, keyboard-work, from scratch, to compare the hotels and find the pearls. So, I decided to share the research that I did for my own discovery of Hong Kong with you, continuously updated.

"Yes sir, we do have hotel rooms available
with a harbourview for the Chinese New Year"

The Information I Share...

I have found that, in addition to "location, location, location", there are several other factors that go into choosing a great hotel.

In cheaper hotels, the research is especially important, because you don't want to stay at a badly managed budget accommodation. Such a place can ruin your otherwise perfectly fine holiday.

Often, three star hotels and above are another story...as I've found that their services can significantly improve your holiday.

For me, a perfect stay includes (but is not limited to, as they say :) ):

  • a balcony with stunning views,
  • fast 24 hour room service (for those (occasional!) late nights),
  • a well equipped hotel gym (30 minutes in the treadmill every day), and
  • a wired broadband connection (WiFi often has its problems).

To find your ideal hotel room (from the 60,000+ Hong Kong hotel rooms available), I've also included descriptions of the tools I use. Some of the tools are not well-known, they are more like frequent traveler insider tips, so I thought that you might benefit from using them as well.

This site shares...

  • my views on the best hotels for the famous Hong Kong districts (Tsim Sha Tsui, Central, Wan Chai, North Point, Sha Tin, Mong Kok...)
  • reviews of the most popular hotels (Cosmopolitan, Park Hotel, Charterhouse, and others) and the reasons why they have such a large fanbase
  • great hotels for special Hong Kong events, such as the Chinese New Year and the International Dragon Boat Festival
  • best cheap hotels (and why "Quality Tourism Services (QTS) Visitor Accommodation Scheme" and "Licensed Guesthouse Logo Scheme" are important)
  • designer & boutique hotels in Hong Kong (oh yes, there are real pearls in this category): one-of-a-kind city & unique hotel - a great combo
  • my favorites for staying close to the Hong Kong Disneyland or the Chek Lap Kok Airport
  • Hong Kong love hotels! (and how they differ from the ones in Tokyo)
  • and many other things to do with best experiences & services in Hong Kong hotels, such as hotel child minding, airport transfers, and spas

Come back and visit often, or...
